David Gregson obtained an Honours Degree in Ergonomics from Loughborough University in 1999. Since July 2000, he has been employed as an Analyst with Synergy Consultants. During that time he has worked on task analysis and formal safety assessments of a range of activities associated with the maintenance and operation of nuclear submarines. This has included work at Rolls Royce Marine Power in Derby, at the Royal Naval Dockyards in Plymouth and with BAE at Barrow. His university course included an Industrial Placement Year, which he spent in the Ergonomics Group of British Energy PLC (the UK nuclear electricity utility).

During this time, he was heavily involved in the design of new computer display formats for a control room refurbishment in a nuclear power plant. For this year's work, he was awarded a Diploma in Professional Studies. He is a currently a Graduate member of the Ergonomics Society, and has recently applied for Registered Membership (MErgS) and for registration as a Certified European Ergonomist (Eur Erg). David is a keen footballer and enjoys holidays, so long as they are in remote locations.
