Andrew Shepherd has been an ergonomist/industrial psychologist for 25 years. He held university research posts at Hull, and then worked for seven years as a training adviser in the Chemical and Allied Products Industry Training Board. Through this work he gained extensive experience with a wide range of human factors issues, including work design, training, and the development of job-aids. In 1985, he joined Loughborough University where he became Director of the Cognitive Ergonomics Research Group.

Andrew likes to work with clients to find out how human factors solutions can be used to support systems' design and development. As a Consultant with Synergy, he has maintained his practical interests in applied ergonomics, methods of task analysis, interface design and operator training particularly in the process control industries. He recently authored a book on Hierarchical Task Analysis. When not pursuing professional activities, he enjoys finding out about old cities, watching rugby league, learning to play the banjolele and reading old comics - among other things.
